Required Areas of Competition
Tiny Miss and Little Miss will compete in the following areas of competition:
Interview (30%) Fun Fashion Modeling (30%) Evening Gown (30%) On Stage Question (10%)
Junior Miss, PreTeen Miss, and Junior Teen Miss will compete in the following areas of competition:
Private Interview (20%) Fun Fashion Modeling (20%) Talent (20%) Evening Gown (20%) On Stage Question (20%)
Fun Fashion Modeling: The fun fashion portion of competition is the time for the contestant to show off their personality with an outfit that reflects their style. This can be cocktail attire or a fashion forward outfit. Modeling should be natural in style but upbeat. Both modeling and attire are scored. A walking map will be provided.
Evening Gown: Most pageant gowns are acceptable. Short dresses are acceptable for Tiny Miss but a long gown is encouraged. Long gowns are required for ages 6+. Poise, appearance, and style are all considered while scoring. A walking map will be provided.
Private Interview: Interview will be conducted by a panel and will be approx. 2-3 mins in length. Most questions will be derived from the Bio sheet you will turn in with registration. Attire should be stylish, age appropriate, and comfortable. Makeup is allowed for interview. Tiny Miss and Little Miss will sit for interview. Junior Miss/PreTeen/Junior Teen will stand.
Talent (Required for 9+ and Optional for 3-8): No one expects a professional talent, as girls this age are just discovering what they like and learning the skills needed to perform their talents. For some, talent is their favorite part… for others it can be the source of anxiety! If your contestant has never competed in talent or feels she is still trying to work out her talent, don’t be discouraged by this portion of competition because it truly is meant to be an opportunity to “try” and more often times than not, they are right on par with the other contestants’ skill levels! Aside from technical skills, the entertainment factor, costume, and stage presence is considered. Time must be 90 seconds or less. No duplicate talents will be accepted per age division. If there are duplicate talents or very similar talents, we will accept the one who registered first. Those using the same song but different talents will be accepted. For example, “Shake It Off” with a lyrical dance and “Shake It Off” with a tap dance would be accepted. Two lyricals to “Shake It Off” would not be accepted. **Talent Music needs to be emailed by July 15th unless other arrangements are made. PLEASE label the talent music "TALENT_DIVISION_FIRSTNAMELASTNAME.mp4" .mp3 and .mp4 files are acceptable. We do not accept youtube links.
On Stage Question: Questions will be your standard age appropriate questions. A list of potential question will be given ahead of time. These are not meant to stump or confuse the contestant, simply meant for the audience to get to know her better since we do not get to sit in on private interview. This will be done in evening gown.
Hair and Makeup: Age appropriate and a natural appearance is stressed. If you choose to use makeup on Tiny Miss and Little Miss contestants it needs to be light and natural looking. Of course PreTeens will have more leniency on wearing more makeup than Tiny Miss. The judges are notified of this, however, it is still up to the judge’s discretion to deduct points if they feel makeup is too heavy or not.
Opening Number: Theme is GLAM this year! Opening Number is a fun aspect that sets the mood for the pageant but is always a non-scored, simply choreographed, portion of the show. Contestants will be shown at rehearsal what they are doing. They will introduce themselves with only “Name and Local Title”. Contestants will wear the LMK T shirt provided and accessorize with bottoms of their choice and shoes of choice. We want to see your best glam accessories! Think bling, feathers, metallics, faux fur, etc! Style of T shirt will be posted ahead of time to coordinate accessories.
Optional Competitions These can be pre-registered or registered for at the door.
Optional competitions are simply an extra opportunity to compete in various ways. These competitions have no effect on your main competition score and will be scored by a separate panel of judges. Some of these competitions have separate entry fees, but some are free! Please make sure to double check you include all required forms/materials for the areas you choose to compete in.
